Learner’s licence
You need to get a learner’s licence before learning to drive a car or a motorbike.
You may apply for a car learner licence when you are 16 years old or older.
Applying for a learner’s licence
Visit a driver licence issuing centre – Queensland Transport Customer Service Centre or Queensland Government Agency Office.
If you live in a remote or rural area and you do not have access to a Queensland Transport Customer Service Centre or Queensland Government Agency Office, visit a police station.
Note: You may only use a police station if you live in a remote or rural area where a Queensland Transport Customer Service Centre is not available.

Complete an application form.
- (You’ll need to provide your name, address, age, date and place of birth, height, eye colour, hair colour, complexion and details of any previous driver licence you may have held and traffic offences you may have committed.)
- Provide identification and proof of residence.
- Pass an eyesight test.
- Pass a written road rules test.
